I was so excited when my cousin Angie & her fiancé Ryan contacted me to shoot their recent engagement!!! Their wedding is only a few months away so we had to get the shoot DONE and DONE as soon as possible. When discussing the shoot, we decided that music concerts was a good theme for them. In the 50 years (kind of seems like it) they have been dating, they have attended hundreds of concerts and have kept every single ticket stub. So going with the theme, I contacted Interlochen Center for the Arts. They were extremely kind for letting us use the campus so last minute. We had a blast together, which is NO surprise! These two are definitely a great fit for each other. Their personalities remind me of me and my Don, and look as us, we’ve been together for 100′s of years. ;-D

CONGRATS COUSIN and RYAN! Love you two!!!

CONGRATULATIONS Megan and Nik! I had so much fun with you two and your location idea was genius. I’m excited to use it in the future. Nik is a pro frisbee golfer, so they had a suggestion to use the Goldenrod Frisbee Golf course for their engagement shoot. I’ve never been but I loved the idea! As I said earlier, you two were so much fun! You’re perfect together. You compliment each other perfectly. I’m so flattered you chose me as your photographer. I’m sending you lots of LUCK during your 2013 wedding in Vegas!!! woohoo!!! WINNER WINNER!

This was one of my favorite newborn sessions to edit. It tugged at my heart strings numerous times. I’ve known Tommy since we were 5 years old (give or take a year) and we’ve been best friends for a long time. You only wish the best for your longtime friends and Cayla IS the best. It was so wonderful watching these two exchange vows and now, to see them as parents; I’m speechless. My heart is so happy for you two. I couldn’t be happier for you THREE and I love you dearly. Thank you for asking me to capture such an amazing moment in your live together.

parks thomas – 4 days young | Knoodle Family Sneak Peek {On-Location Newborn Photographer}

Meet Parks Thomas Knoodle! An absolute dream come true! He did a wonderful job of keeping mommy and daddy on edge during his arrival but during his shoot, I couldn’t have asked for a better model. His shoot could have/would have been done in 2 hours or less (almost unheard of) but when things are going great, why not push the envelope!? Right? And when you do, you get the sweetest little smile from the sweetest little boy. What a wonderful way to end a shoot.

I really do adore being a photographer and I can’t say it enough. Capturing couples, such as Jessica and Jared, as a newly engaged couple and then years later, capturing their first child. It makes my heart smile. And being able to snuggle a newborn every few weeks is SO lovely. I do get baby fever from it though…hmm…. no thanks, not yet.

auralia jane – 15 days young | Martin Newborn Sneak Peek {Traverse City Newborn Photographer}

Auralia (pronounced “uh-rail-yah” ) Jane! Her name is SO fantastic!!!!! I love it. I’m sure with a name like that, she’s going to be known for doing great things. Newborns are SO amazing. The families are so wonderful to be around. Everyone is in awe and madly in love. We simple ooh and ahh over the tiny little humans. i love my job.

The Martin family may look a bit familiar. Melisa and Bryan chose me to photographer their maternity and newborn with their firstborn, Archer. It’s always so wonderful to see families returning when they’re adding to their family. So wonderful. Thank you for choosing me Martin family. Auralia is GORGEOUS and I can’t wait to see if her and Archer will always look alike. Hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

itty bitty isla | Tramontana Newborn Sneak Peek {Michigan Newborn Photographer}

I wouldn’t consider the name Isla to be remotely common but in the last 9 months three families have chosen that name for their daughters. How odd. I do love it though. This little miss Isla was an absolute PRO during her shoot. Mommy, daddy and a few folks from Isla’s fan club, drove over from Lansing for the shoot and were heading back after the shoot. Thankfully Isla was PERFECT and the shoot went off without a hitch! And thankfully Isla is as itty bitty as she is, because she fit so perfectly in a very unique vintage hat box I had purchased a few days prior to the shoot. And one of the wonderful headbands her mommy had purchased from The Bow Chick went SO well with the hat box. It’s as if we planned it.

It’s always so wonderful to see a friend from high school and meet their family. An it’s even more wonderful when they ask me to be their photographer for these amazing moments.

Thank you for thinking of me Jessica and John! I truly had a wonderful time and enjoyed all the laughs. Everyone is always smiling and laughing with Jessica around.

love is in the air – happy valentines day | Sara & Conor Engagement Sneak Peek {Traverse City Photographer}

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE! What a wonderful day for an engagement sneak peek!

This shoot is the first of two engagement shoots for this beautiful couple! This shoot was meant for their save the dates as well as capturing the everyday Sara & Conor. Their second shoot is themed, styled and going to be AMAZING! We’re saving it for spring and we can’t wait to share it!!! I was laughing 90% of the time during this shoot so I know the second shoot will be just as fun.

I always end up with the most fun loving couples. Sara & Conor were an absolute blast and such a pleasure to be around. They both definitely know how to take life lightly and enjoy it. When Sara isn’t on air (local news anchor) and Conor isn’t up in the air (commercial pilot) then you’ll find them enjoying everything that Traverse City has to offer. Great food, great entertainment and BEAUTIFUL sights.

Downtown Traverse City at The State Theatre, pretty awesome huh? I had no idea you could rent out the marquee.

These next few are my favorites. No shoot would be complete with out an impromptu dance party!

AND let me explain the next set… Sara’s mother drove up for the day to join us for the shoot. As the shoot was coming to an end, she had made a suggestion which then prompted a few scenes from the shot Toddler and Tiaras because we were referring to her as a stage mom. haha Conor & Sara, I wish you all the happiness in the world and to remember to always laugh with each other just as you did during this shoot.

I LOVE WHAT I DO! One of the benefits of being a photographer is being able to snuggle sweet babies like Brennan. Mmm. LOVE newborns. Brennan was an absolute dream during the three hours. And his furry four legged big brother, Ascher just adores him! He let me play dress up with him for a minute.

a couple of january outside mini-sessions | RaCosta and Molosky Sneak Peek

Outside sessions are always a blast, regardless of weather! I am always up for doing an outside shoot. Last weekend we were lucky and ended up with wonderful weather for some quick mini-sessions. Although the wind was rougher on Saturday than Friday, we made it through. The benefit of 20 minutes is that it’s over with quickly.
