About your session…

I embrace a nontraditional style of photography. While formal poses are nice and sometimes needed, I prefer a more photo journalistic approach, striving to capture the honesty of real life, of your life. I use minimal posing and never ask a child to say “cheese”. My goal is to capture as much of a child’s personality and surroundings as possible. My sessions are not rushed, so subjects have plenty of time to warm up. There are time limits on sessions, however, I don’t rush or feel the need to run for the door after “your time” is up.

Once I receive the payment for your session I send you a packet full of information and some disclosures that will need to be filled out and returned to me at the beginning of your session. I ask that you please call me sometime before the session takes place so that we can go over the information and get us all on the same page. I like this time a lot because I am able to have a small, comfortable conversation with you. Some clients have told me this part puts them at ease. I also like to ask a few questions during the conversation, so be ready to give me quick answers! kidding

I can help decide what clothes will photograph best for each child, and yourself! Newborns are captured with as little clothing as possible. Accessories such as hats, booties, or blankets add that unique touch to your photos. I have numerous props that include all these items & more. I am happy to bring them if you ask. Trendy clothes work well for older children. Solid colors in middle tones work well; it is best to avoid wearing all white. This isn’t a huge no-no; it is just recommended that you dress in something that’s shows more of your personality and your child’s personality. Accessories such as hats and scarves are encouraged, while logos, busy patterns, large stripes, and cartoon characters can detract from a portrait.

After the shoot, each photograph is hand-edited and carefully processed. A link to a private online gallery will be created approximately 7 days following the session. Twenty to thirty finished images are presented in a custom gallery that is easily shared with friends and family. I can answer any questions regarding enlargement choices and wall groupings for each client’s home. Galleries remain active for 7 days, at which time orders may be placed right through the gallery. Ala carte orders that are placed within the first 5 days of receiving your gallery code are given 15% discount. At the end of our session you will receive another info packet that will help you decide what to order and how to order. Prints are delivered within 4-5 weeks of ordering.

I am typically booked 4 weeks (sometimes months) in advanced so it is important to call early to reserve a date. The session fee must be received within five days of booking a session, or the scheduled appointment will be forfeited. I do allow room in my schedule to accommodate newborns, as the best time to photograph them is less than two weeks of age.
